Here's some good news: in the coming weeks, iPhone will put a filter icon in the upper right corner of your text inbox. If you click that filter, all those spam fundraising texts will vanish. Hooray! Not small nor churlish. At all! Necessary. And infuriating.

Ugh. All I can do is report these fundraising emails and texts as spam and block them. Thanks for trying to follow up. As you say, the powers that be just want this story to blow over. More Grandparents in Iowa will see their retirement funds siphoned off.

No, but imagine if the DNC mined bitcoin and funded itself using captured landfill methane. Precisely the kind of double-whammy problem solving and creativity to which the Democratic Party seems wholly allergic.

Also, according to this study, more than half of Bitcoin is now mined using renewables while coal is down to 8% and falling. Not to derail the convo but important to note.

The β€˜Cambridge Digital Mining Industry Report’ says the 52.4% use of sustainable energy sources for Bitcoin mining, which includes 9.8% nuclear and 42.6% renewables such as hydropower and wind, compares to a 2022 estimate of 37.6% overall sustainable energy use.

to be clear, I otherwise truly appreciated this email. the whole ecosystem is basically a disaster and none of it actually works (see: everything), so thank you.
