Terrific commentary .The rhetoric this regime uses to dehumanize immigrants can also be compared to the language Nazis used to describe Jews. Of course differences exist between the holocaust and the ethnic cleansing that Trump is promoting now, but the similarities are too stark to ignore

Nazis did not exterminate Jews in year 1 but they did open concentration camps for shortly after taking power in 1933 - just like Trump. Extermination took 8 more years.

Here's the concentration camp timeline from AI:

Early Camps (1933): The first, such as Dachau, held political opponents, but Jewish individuals were also imprisoned.

Expansion (Late 1930s): Following events like Kristallnacht in 1938, thousands of Jewish men were sent to camps like Buchenwald and Sachsenhausen.

Mass Deportations (1941-1945): Large-scale, systematic transport of Jews to camps, including extermination centers, increased drastically with the start of the war and especially after late 1941

Yes. And it should be a moral outrage for all of us to look at the detention center conditions that have been reported across the last 12 months, which have now included several deaths

I remember as a twelve year-old comparing someone to Hitler and being given a tongue lashing by my mother. Her message was that Hitler was by far the most evil man that ever lived, and comparing lesser evil people to him was insulting and disrespectful to the suffering of his victims.

I'm an old man now, a life-long student of history. I can make make comparisons and see troubling similarities between the rise of Hitler in Germany and the unfolding of Trump's 2nd term. It's more than enough to compel me to rise up in opposition, other egregious villainy and evil aside.

As someone who has done research on the Holocaust the similarities between Trump and the Nazies clearly exist. Anti-semitism in Europe was used to dehumanize the Jews so that they no longer would be recognized as human and thus easier to discriminate and ultimately eliminate. By adopting a gradual process in accomplishing that end the Nazie's slowly overcame the barriers to a "final solution". Thus, claiming that they are eating the dogs and cats, no matter of the lack of evidence the Haitians become less than human and not subject to any compassion. Keep up the clear thinking your cousin Len

Great piece. The Boca retirement home story was particularly good.
