Sometimes I wonder if digital and social have effectively supplanted paper among the younger generations. If so, could we see another Port Huron Statement go viral? Could we see another email and petition, ala Eli Pariser, go viral again?
It is possible that many will leave Twitter to find other social media to fill their needs... many are likely to move to encrypted platforms like WhatsApp, WeChat, and Signal. Would that be an improvement? Doubtful... it is buried under encryption that gives these platforms lots of dark corners for things to fester.
