Just came out a month ago, a singer named Tom Smith did his original at a demonstration at the ICE facility in Burlington, MA. It's been picked up around here by the Walkabout Clearwater Chorus (a creation of Pete Seeger from way back when):
Do you believe this song will convince voters to shift the power dynamic in the coming elections? Or is it just a cute way to sing through the pain of loss and decline?
I hope this takes off. Like you mention, we need new songs for 2026. I've asked for years where the new protest songs are after always singing the same old ones from the 60s.
In the first days of the Covid pandemic, Italians in the norther towns came out onto their balconies in the evening to sing together. Pretty magical.
