And while we wait at the brink of a wider regional war, a new coalition of US liberal and progressive groups shows that a saner approach to the conflict is possible.
Such great work Micah. You are a beacon of light and reason in a very dark place. I’m wondering if Jodi Dean and the ADL will all fit in the next exploratory capsule headed to Mars. The remarks by Corey Robin are depressing if not wholly unpredictable. The Left as we knew it is now in its twilight and some of its major figures have become unmoored intellectually and morally. Their disdain for The Empire trumps any search for nuance let alone common ground.
This is an excellent and incisive commentary. There is just one problem it does not acknowledge. As the Iranian attack again demonstrates, the enemies of Israel do not want and will not accept any two-state solution that includes peaceful coexistence. They cannot be persuaded, they cannot be bought off, they do not care how many Palestinians die (YS just lost 3 more sons), and they believe (not without reason) that another Biden term will allow them to continue a war of attrition against Israel pretty much unmolested and that Trump doesn't really care about Israel either.
I agree that the Iranian attack was likely deliberately underwhelming, because, like the targeted military operatives visiting the consulate, it was part of a war of attrition to destroy little Satan on the cheap.
Thanks for the feedback. I appreciate your desire for a black-and-white picture instead of one with shades of gray. However, it's not accurate to say that Hamas has done nothing since Oct. 7. It's fired several thousand rockets into Israel, and its leaders have made plenty of statements promising to commit more October 7s in the future. I think your hatred of Biden is blinding you.
Thank you for the care and intelligence of your work.
