Just an anecdote to add to the story: my parents live in a very small town near Coeur d’Alene, Idaho (it’s not where they’re from; there’s a long boring story as to why they’re there). They are also definitely liberal Democrats. Anyway, I spoke to my father on Sunday and he said that as he was driving into CdA to get groceries, he found a No Kings rally happening along the highway. He described it as a quarter of a mile long, multiple people deep on both sides, with a very bored looking CdA cop at one end making sure nothing got out of hand. So several hundred people, at least.

He honked and waved, and he said he wasn't the only one doing that.

In Northern Idaho.

My son's girlfriend's parents, who live in Amagansett in the summer, found a No Kings protest to attend, so those so-called Dem royals might could have gone to the wedding AND a protest...

We and our large circle of friends WISH the Democrats would GRAB the emotional moment and use the words used by Bernie Sanders! Straightforward, detailed and willing to respond to naysayers! Bernie talks facts with strength and believe me, Democratic voters WANT that! ~ Sally in Reston Virginia and Hudson Ohio!!!

Lech Walesa's leadership in Poland of the organized Trade unionists and anti-communists is what brought about change, not mass peaceful demonstrations. However, they are seen as reflecting the will of the people. Walesa became that country's first democratically elected president. The organization of this kind was also applicable to other countries that overthrew their governments.

Add Atlantic, IA to the No Kings rally list. Atlantic/Cass County has not voted Democratic since 1976 when it supported Tom Harkin and several county supervisors.

Future Forward should also be criticized for what I would call a "missed opportunity" list. For instance, when Kamala was three points behind in Iowa, Future Forward failed to invest, and Kamala did not even make a quick visit.

It must be noted that national Democrats have ignored races in the Midwest and Mountain West for decades, and the effect is detrimental to Democrats' national goals. For example, Schumer and his team failed to invest in five Senate races over the last two cycles that could have been won. Why? Maybe because he only favors coastal states and the few so-called "Blue Wall" states. Or perhaps because he is just another parochial New Yorker who rarely ventures any closer to the heartland than what one experiences during a flyover.

I grew up in PA midway between NY and DC. The parochialism of coastal residents and their politicians cannot be understated. They simply believe that they live in the most progressive parts of the country, when in reality most of them do not. (Rural New England north of Boston is different. FWIW, Upstate NY is anything north of one county past NYC and they are emphatically not New Yorkers. Neither of these regions form the bulk of the East Coast and have little political power. They know they are parochial.) The Mid-Atlantic and the Southeast have no interest in any other parts of the country and that is unlikely to change, ever. For historical context, look at the progress of the right of women to vote. The last region to accept the idea was the East Coast despite the claim that the idea began there. The history of women’s emancipation after Seneca Falls is conveniently skipped over in school. Also skipped is everything in history that did not happen east of the Allegheny Mountains, except for the California gold rush. Seriously.

The Democrats (my former party, I’m now an independent) lost in 2024 and will continue to lose in the future because of one reason. They have lost the support of the American working class. The Democrats are a lost cause on this issue and any third party hoping to succeed must address that single issue.

The historic Democratic icons FDR, and JFK would laugh at what passes for policy in their beloved party. Although they were upper class they understood that victory for their party depended on appealing to working class voters. Current party leaders distain the “deplorable” and “racist” members of the working class.

Working class Americans hate the following three policies foisted on them by Democrats

Working class people have had their wages depressed by illegal immigrants who will work for next to nothing just to be here. Their rents rise because we don’t have enough housing for our own citizens let alone millions of interlopers. The Democrats opened our borders to all with no vetting and now complain when the worst among those who entered illegally are sent home. The age of mass migration is over. Thank god and yes, Trump.

Democrats believe that a man can become a woman (he can’t) and should be allowed to play women’s sports and enter women’s private spaces including, unbelievably, those where they are naked and vulnerable, and that children, many of whom would grow up to be gay, should be mutilated in pursuit of the impossible. The vast majority of Americans and especially working class men want to protect women and children.

Democrats continue to discriminate on the basis of race and sex today because in the past there was discrimination on the basis of race and sex. That’s unconstitutional and the working class knows it.

Democrats believe that working class Americans are too stupid to understand what they are doing. They aren’t.
